Dental Crowns

When a damaged or decayed tooth is missing a lot of its natural structure, a filling just won’t do the trick. Enter, dental crowns. Sometimes called caps, these restorations cover the whole tooth to the gumline, providing strength and protection.

At Kits Family Dental, we have several types of crowns, and your dentist will recommend the ideal option for your smile. Porcelain tends to be the most popular choice because the material is durable and looks a lot like tooth enamel.

Dental Bridges

It’s called a dental bridge because it literally bridges the gap between your remaining teeth after tooth loss. Most bridges consist of crowns that are bonded to the teeth on either side of the space (abutment teeth), providing support for the crown in the middle, called the pontic.

Need to replace several missing teeth? Our dentists can customize your bridge by adding additional crowns as needed. Because the bridge is fixed, it’s more comfortable and natural-looking than a partial denture.

Dental Implant Restorations

Dental implants are a permanent, stable tooth replacement option. Your prosthodontist or oral surgeon will perform dental implant surgery. Then, you’ll heal for several months while the implant fuses with your jawbone.

After the healing period, we’ll take digital scans and a lab partner will create your permanent crown or bridge. Then, for the final step in the process, your dentist will attach your restoration to your implant.

What to expect when getting a dental crown or bridge

Step 1

You’ll visit Kits Family Dental for an exam, and the dentist will use their findings to make personalized treatment recommendations. They’ll fill you in on the timeline and what to expect at every step of the process. A team member will also go over the cost of your dental bridge or crown.

Step 2

The dentist will numb you with a local anesthetic before shaping the tooth/abutment teeth to fit under the dental crown(s). We’ll then take quick, comfy digital impressions with our iTero® Element scanner.

Step 3

Your dentist will place a temporary crown or bridge to protect your newly prepped teeth. They’ll send your digital impressions to a trusted lab partner, and the lab will mill your permanent crown or bridge. The restoration will even be glazed to reflect light in the way natural enamel does.

Step 4

The dentist will remove your temporary restoration, clean your teeth, and place the crown or bridge. A team member will take a digital x-ray to ensure it fits perfectly. Finally, your dentist will cement your restoration in place and make any necessary adjustments to give you the look and feel you want.
